Douds, Iowa - Kathy S. Hartsell, 67, of Douds, Iowa passed away on February 21, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. She was born on December 19, 1952 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Raymond C. and Florence M. Salter Hartsell. Kathy graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne Michigan in 1971. She moved to Douds, Iowa in 1991.

Kathy worked for 13 years at the University of Michigan Medical Center as an administrative assistant for the department of Psychiatry. She most recently served as secretary for the Christ United Methodist Church, Selma United Methodist Church, and Lebanon United Methodist Church and has been in that position for the past 15 years. Kathy was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Iowa Chapter GK of the National T.T.T. Society. She sang in the community choir when she lived in Michigan and also sang in the church choir until she had to stop due to medical issues. She enjoyed quilting, photography, music, watching television and had a special love for animals.

She is survived by her niece, Tonya Napolitano of Westland, Michigan; cousins, Lisa Hartsell, Larry (Georganne) Hartsell, Marjorie (Jack) Wilhelm; a good friend, Gerri Crane; neighbor, Debbie Hendricks; and other cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Florence Hartsell; a brother, Daniel Hartsell; a great-niece, Tiah; and many cousins.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds with Rev. Olympia Marcos officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020 and continue until the time of the service. Inurnment will be at Leando Cemetery.
