Fremont, Iowa - Kendell C. Strausser, 62, of Fremont, died Saturday, October 23, 2021, at his home in Fremont under Hospice care. He was born July 9, 1959, in Delhi, New York, the son of Harvey and Anita Potter Strausser. He graduated from Deep River, Connecticut with the class of 1978. Following graduation, he furthered his education at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut and was a Graduate of William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. On May 11, 1985, he was united in marriage to Lisa Camenisch Strausser. To this union four children were born Preston, Noah, Levi and Gabriell.

Kendell proudly served his country as a Captain in the Iowa National Guard for 22 years, stationed in Iraq for 1 year. His patriotism and loyalty for his country was unquestioned. Kendell was the Mayor of Fremont for four year's and also a Fremont School Board member. He worked as an Engineer more than 20 years for Clow Valve Company and was most recently a substitute teacher for Eddyville School District. Kendell's other love besides his wife, family and Country was woodworking. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, especially if he got to do this with his children. Kendell had a gift with people and never met a stranger.

His family includes his wife of over 36 years Lisa Strausser of Fremont; four children, Preston (Whittney Kelsey), Noah, Levi and Gabriell Strausser of Fremont; two brothers Harvey (Karen) Strausser of Old Saybrook, CT, Eric Strausser of Dallas, TX and a sister Ethel (George) Kyttle of Carrolltin, TX; in-laws Pat Norcross of Ames, IA and Donald Camenisch of Algona, IA; brothers-in-law Mark (Stefanie) Camenisch of Boone, IA, Barry Camenisch of Ames, IA, Steve Camenisch of Algona, IA and a sister-in-law Jill (Mike) Engwer of White Bear Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Kendell was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Pastor Daryl Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Military Rites will be given by the Oskaloosa American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 2-6 without family present. The family will be present for Visitation from 9:30 to service time at 11 on Friday morning. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family at this time.
