Ottumwa, Iowa - Larry LaMont Huddleston, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 8:36 p.m. January 10, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born June 12, 1938 in Ottumwa. At the age of 12 he began working at Proctor Standard Station and in 1957 graduated from Ottumwa High School. He married the love of his life, Lois Lucille Tipton on September 26, 1959 and she preceded him in death May 25, 2021 after almost 62 years of marriage.

Larry had worked for Yates Construction and as an Ottumwa Police officer. In 1966 he started at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring after 30 years in May of 1996.

Larry was a man of deep faith. He had been a member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God and in the last few years attended Calvary Baptist Church. He has served on the board of Deere Community Credit Union and later Community First Credit Union. He and his wife, Lois enjoyed traveling especially with Golden Opportunity. His greatest accomplishment was raising his family. Even with his last words, he asked them to "take care of each other."

Surviving are his children, Tammy (Jim) Kosman of Ottumwa, Kim (Dennis) Mullarkey and Monty (Kelly) Huddleston both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Kelsey (Jesse) Jamison, Haley Huddleston, Lisa (Bill) Reece, Lora (Gary) Brons, Jill (James) O'Bryan, Bryan (Katie) Mullarkey, Kevin Mullarkey and Matt (Tara) Mullarkey; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Irene Jones Huddleston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Tipton, Grant Tipton Neva Root and Marie Swope.

Visitation will be open after 1 p.m. Thursday, January 15th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 16th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
