Ottumwa, Iowa - Lois Elaine James McCune, 102, of Ottumwa, died at 8:29 p.m. October 4, 2025 at Vista Woods Care Center.

She was born April 20, 1923 in Burlington, IA to Allen and Elsie Mary Graff Shank. She married Calvin Samuel James on August 20, 1944 in Burlington and he preceded her in death November 4, 1989. She married Robert F. McCune September 7, 1990 and he preceded her in death February 29, 2000.

A graduate of Burlington High School and Burlington Junior College, Lois had been a Meteorologist Observer at the Burlington Airport before getting married.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ottumwa and later First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of T.T.T. and P.E.O.

Surviving are her children, Cheri Bolden of Marion, IA, Calvin C. (Gail) James of Longmont, CO and Lori (John) Yates of South Greenfield, MO; five grandchildren, Christy (Peter) Novosel of Olathe, KS, Jeff (Rachael) McCaughey of Cedar Rapids, Carrie (Jon) Erro of Ramona, CA, Scott (Jeanie) James of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Sydney (Colin) Judy of Marionville, MO; and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Gary Allen Bolden.

Private graveside services and burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at a future date. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
