Birmingham, IA - Mabel "Mickey" Irene Lunsford, 81, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2026, surrounded by family. She lived a life defined by devotion, hard work, and deep love for those she cherished.

Mickey was born December 1, 1944, in Salem, Iowa, to Lester and Sarah Laughlin. From an early age, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and caring spirit. She devoted 21 years to Louden's Division of ACCO in Fairfield, Iowa, where she was a valued employee until her retirement.

In 1977, Mickey met the love of her life, Joseph "Bill" Lunsford. They were married July 23, 1977, and built a life rooted in love, companionship, and family. Their home was filled with warmth and laughter. Mickey especially enjoyed gardening, traveling, time with family, and visits to South Padre Island, a place that brought her peace and joy.

A devoted homemaker, Mickey was known for her exceptional cooking. She took great pride in her garden and lovingly canned vegetables each year, generously sharing with others—traditions that became treasured family memories.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph "Bill" Lunsford; sister, Esther (Larry) Crow; children Carla Davis (John), Joanie Moffett (Shawn), Melvin Hostetter (Lynnette), Brenda Bartholomew (Doug), and Debra Johnson (Jason); twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great‑grandchildren, with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two brothers; an infant child; and a grandson.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 16, at noon at the Assembly of God Church, 102 1st Street, Eldon. Memorials may be directed to Sunnybrook Home Care, EveryStep Hospice, or the Assembly of God Church.
