Marilyn JoAnn Kudart Obituary

Kansas City, Missouri - Marilyn JoAnn Kudart, born December 20, 1944, to Blanche and Orville Johnston in Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away April 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.


Marilyn was known for her deep love of gardening, sewing, and her faithful service within her church community. Above all, she found joy and purpose in her family. She poured her heart into her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—cherishing each one deeply.


She is survived by her children: Marlene Wilkerson (Curt), Roger Stephen Yates (Neely), and Brent Yates; her grandchildren: Madilyn Knipker (Jonathan), Josie Wilkerson, Makenna Yates, Lily Wilkerson, Lucas Yates, and Aidan Yates; and her great-grandchildren: Mila Knipker, Brynlee Knipker, and Jude Knipker; her sisters: Catherine Carter (Gerald), Carolyn Birdsell (Bill), and Ruth McMillian (Art).


Marilyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Yates (1975), and her second husband, Walter Kudart (2018); her parents, Blanche and Orville Johnston; and her brothers, Orville "Jack" Johnston, Robert Johnston, and Marvin Crady.


A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 10am on May 10th, 2025 at Zion Community Church of God, 15720 Copperhead Rd, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zion Community Church of God 15720 Copperhead Rd, Ottumwa, IA 52501.
