Mary Evelyn Augustine
Mary Evelyn Augustine, 90, of Agency, died at 4:35 p.m. November 26, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born December 1, 1928 in Centralia, MO to James D. and Edith Ridgway Fenton. She married Allan Augustine on May 27, 1950.
Moving to Iowa in 1930, Mary was a 1946 graduate of Farson High School. She had worked as a secretary at John Morrell & Co. and at Dexter in accounting, retiring in 1991.
Mary was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Arbor Vitae Chapter #327 in Batavia and then Twin City Chapter #258 in Douds. She enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, stamps and coins, taking care of her flower gardens and her African violets. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons.
Surviving is her husband, Allan, two sons, Mike (Anne) Augustine of Agency and Jon (Marcy) Augustine of Johnston; two grandsons, Bryce (Ayano) Augustine of Japan and Ethan (Alex) Augustine of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph and David Fenton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Batavia United Methodist Church.
