Roberta Diann Fairchild, age 77, of Packwood, Iowa, passed away at her home on Friday, February 17, 2023. She was born on August 25, 1945, in New Port News, Virginia, the daughter of Robert and Rosemary (Johnson) Cronk. She graduated from Fremont High School with the Class of 1966 and later attended college at Iowa State University where she received her certificate for Food Service Management. On February 3, 1967, she was united in marriage to Jack F. Fairchild in Lancaster, Missouri. They shared 51 years of marriage together until Jack passed away on February 24, 2018

Roberta worked as a food service supervisor at several different nursing facilities throughout the years. She later took a job at Pella Corp and enjoyed working there for 11 years before retiring to take care of Jack. Roberta enjoyed spending time with her family, playing scrabble and other board games, completing crossword puzzles, camping and watching her antique T.V. shows. She also enjoyed scouring flea markets and garage sales with Jack in hopes of finding unique items to add to her saltshaker, miss piggy and elephant collections. She was survived by three daughters: Sherri (& Joseph) Lahvic of Monroe City, Missouri, Shelley (& Brad) Van Rheenen of Sherwood, Wisconsin and Jacqueline Janssens of Oskaloosa; a son: Rodney (& Laura) Fairchild of Bloomfield; 23 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Connie Phillips of Martinsburg, Carol Fairchild of Oskaloosa; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Theresa (Dan) Bastian, who took care of Roberta and honored her wishes to remain at home. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; a daughter, Terri Fairchild; a son: Jack (& Barb) Fairchild, Jr.; a grandson: John Fairchild; a great granddaughter: Lily Diann Nichols; two sisters, Patricia and Margaret; two brothers-in-law, Wesley and Richard Phillips and a nephew, J.R. Phillips. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie View Church near Ollie. As was her wish, Roberta's body has been cremated. The family will be sharing memories and stories to honor Roberta's life. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
