Mrs. Sarabel Yvonne Yahne Obituary

Las Vegas, Nevada - Sarabel Yvonne Yahne

Sarabel Yvonne Davis Yahne was born on August 5, 1929 in Corydon, IA and passed to our Lord on March 31, 2026 in Las Vegas, NV.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; Pearlie Davis and Clova Davis Sleeth, her beloved husband of 64 years, Bill G. Yahne, siblings Dave Davis, Dow Davis, Wanda Houk, Marilyn Snoddy, Verna Houk, Diana Fuller and grandson Matthew Salyer.

Sara is survived by her children; Patricia Yahne Salyer (Charles), William Yahne (Jeslyn), Richard Yahne (Brenda), Christine Yahne Padilla (Reuben), seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her sister Glenda Spinks.

Sara graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1947. While attending school she taught swimming at the Ottumwa YWCA and the Municipal Pool. She was an athlete in high school and college participating in synchronized swimming in the early years of the sport. She began her college education at Northwest Missouri State College majoring in Physical Education.

Sara met Bill Yahne on a blind date on February 14, 1952 and married him 3 weeks later on March 8, 1952. She began raising four wonderful children while Bill finished his tour in England in the United States Air Force. Later, she followed Bill across the United States while he worked on the Apollo Moon project and the Titan II ICBM defense system in defense of our nation. She once loaded all of her children into the car to deliver Sunday dinner to Bill who was working overtime at a missile silo in the desert outside of Tucson, AZ. It was quite a feat to get past the strict security to accomplish this but she managed it! Life was always an adventure as they traveled all around the country.

Settling in Upland, CA in 1968, Sara began substitute teaching and subsequently taught aquatic therapy for special needs children at the Lincoln School in Ontario, CA. She graduated from Redlands University and became a Special Education Teacher in the Ontario-Montclair School District. She retired from teaching in 1995.

Dedicated to service in her community, Sara became a member and later the President of the Upland Women's Club. Sara loved the club and her many club friends. Sara was awarded the California State Woman of Distinction Award in 2012.

Sara will be remembered and loved by her family. Her dedication to her students and her community will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 9, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada
