Galesburg, IL - Waldo "Perry" King, 97, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL.

Graveside Services will be Monday, March 30, 2026, at Haynes Cemetery in Rathbun, IA.

Perry was born December 23, 1928, in Centerville, IA, the son of Walter and Nellie (Harrington) King. He married Phyllis M. Stansberry on August 7, 1970, in Rathbun, IA. She preceded him in death on October 17, 1995.

Mr. King retired from J.I. Case, Bettendorf, Experimental Department. After retirement, he worked for 5 years as a Flagman for Interstate Railroad, retiring in 2004.

Perry served in the Army Special Forces in the Parachute Troops during 1946-1947 and the Korean Conflict from 1950-1955.

Perry was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 246, Moline, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of U.A.W. Local 858 Retirees, 11th Airborne Division Association and 10th Special Forces Association.

Survivors include his son Patrick King, Galesburg; granddaughter Katelyn King and grandson, Brennen King; sister, Joanne Gladfelder, Wamego, KS; brother, John King, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; sister, Nellie Power, and brother, Thomas King. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.deroofuneralhome.com.
