Ottumwa, Iowa - Wanda Lee Grasso, 85, of Ottumwa, died at 3:40 p.m. April 24, 2026 at The Life Center in Des Moines.
Wanda was born January 28, 1941 in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School. A Pancake Day Queen Candidate, she met her future husband, Mike when he was her driver in that year's parade. She married Michael Francis Grasso April 15, 1961 and he preceded her in death May 15, 2025.
Having lived in Des Moines a short time, they moved to Ottumwa in 1962. Wanda, alongside her husband, Mike worked at the 7-11 Quick Shop on Madison for 38 years, owning the business for almost 30 years. She enjoyed her customers and selling lottery tickets to them.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation and Altar and Rosary Society.
Wanda showed her love through her cooking, but was known to not give out her recipes. Most importantly, she loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Fred (Vicky) Grasso of West Des Moines, Quentin Grasso of Crystal Lake, IL, Brian Grasso of West Des Moines and Gina Leonard of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, Zack (Taylor) Grasso, Joe Grasso, Chase Grasso, Reilly Grasso, Jordan Grasso, Cale Leonard and Hallie Leonard; 2 great grandsons, Gio and Quentin; siblings, Charlotte Long, Jack Stevens and Terry Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Robert Phelps; an infant son, Nathan Grasso; siblings, Florence Delight Montegna, L. Joan Pettibone, Shirley Francis, Dickie Bitner, Bob Stevens and Larry Stevens.
Visitation will be open from10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 3rd at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake Service will be at 2 p.m. with the family present to greet friends until 4 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday May 4th at St. Mary of the Visitation. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The Lodge at Good Samaritan Society - Ottumwa.
