HEDRICK-Zelma May Sieren, age 92, of Hedrick, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.

Zelma was born May 5, 1927, near Richmond, Iowa, to Bryan and Esther (Chez) Nicholson. She graduated from Keota High School in 1946 and worked briefly in Cedar Rapids. On August 12, 1946, Zelma married her only love, LeRoy "Bill" Sieren at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek Township, after he returned from the Navy. They farmed near Martinsburg, then moved to Hedrick after retirement. Zelma moved to Manor House Care Center in 2016. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. Zelma loved her family, friends and the big family she married into. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending her flowers, sewing and entertaining friends.

Survivors include four children: Diane Black of Ottumwa, Debra (Wendall) Essex of Wilton, Martin (Cindy) Sieren and Lynn (Lea) Sieren of Hedrick; six grandchildren: Heather Rich, Chris (Amanda) Sieren, Seth (Kelli) Sieren, Lindsay (Kelby) Epperson, Randy (Petra) Jackson, Mike Jackson; step grandsons: Matt (Robin) and Mike (Karen) Black; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bill in 2010; son: Steven; two granddaughters: Kimberly and Shelby Nelson; son-in-law: Donald Black; sister: Margaret Fiala and brother-in-law: Joe Fiala.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the funeral home.
